In a shocking incident early Thursday morning, at least 10 people were shot outside the Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York. The shooting unfolded just before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night as around 15 individuals, mainly teenagers, were standing outside the venue waiting to enter a private event.
Authorities report that three to four young males, estimated to be in their mid-to-late-teens to early 20s, approached the group and opened fire, discharging approximately 30 shots into the crowd. The suspects fled the scene in a gray Infiniti with out-of-state plates, leading to an active manhunt by the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The victims, all expected to survive, were treated at various hospitals including Jamaica Hospital Trauma Center, New York-Presbyterian Queens, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and Cohen Children’s Medical Center. Injuries ranged from gunshot wounds to the legs, feet, arms, buttocks, and grazes to the back.
The NYPD has not yet established a clear motive for the attack, but the investigation is ongoing. There is no indication that this incident is related to terrorism. The community and local officials, including Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., have expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as a “life-changing ordeal” for those affected.
This event has reignited discussions on gun violence, public safety, and the need for increased security measures around nightlife venues in New York City. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help in apprehending the suspects.
