NEW YORK, NY – January 2, 2025 – Michael Blount, a 29-year-old from Manhattan, has been indicted by a grand jury for the violent assault of his ex-girlfriend, which involved slashing her with a razor blade and then shoving her onto the subway tracks at Harlem’s 125th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue station, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced.

The attack occurred on November 5, 2024, when Blount allegedly followed his ex-girlfriend and her teenage daughters from a deli to the subway station. According to the indictment, Blount purchased a razor blade before the assault, then attacked his ex-girlfriend by grabbing her hair, slashing her across the face and neck, and finally pushing her onto the train tracks in front of her children.

Following the assault, Blount faced charges including attempted murder. He was arrested on December 24, 2024, after an investigation by the NYPD, which included evidence of continued harassment via phone calls and text messages to both the victim and her daughters post-incident.

District Attorney Bragg highlighted the severity of the crime, stating, “This was an unprovoked and brutal attack on a woman in front of her children, and we will ensure that justice is served.” The case has brought attention to issues of domestic violence and public safety in New York City’s transit system.

Blount’s legal proceedings are ongoing, with no trial date set as of yet. The community and local advocacy groups have called for increased measures to protect domestic violence victims and to enhance security in public spaces like subway stations.
