Sacramento, CA – In a horrifying turn of events, a 28-year-old father, Andrey Demskiy, has been charged with the murder of his one-year-old son. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, December 20, 2024, in northern Sacramento County.
According to reports, Demskiy allegedly used a knife to behead his son while his wife and mother-in-law were outside the home, waiting for police to arrive following a 911 call about a family disturbance. The call was initiated after Demskiy reportedly assaulted his wife and mother-in-law, who were subsequently treated for injuries, though none were life-threatening.
Upon entering the home, authorities discovered the child’s severed head in a bedroom where Demskiy was detained. He has been charged with three felonies: assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, and murder. Demskiy is currently held in the Sacramento County Main Jail without the possibility of bail and is ineligible for release. His court appearance is scheduled for December 24, 2024.
Sheriff’s officials have described the scene as one of the most disturbing they’ve encountered, with Sergeant Amar Gandhi stating, “I cannot think of a worse call in 20 years.”
