Detroit Couple Sentenced After Dogs Fatally Maul Father of Six
Detroit, MI — A heartbreaking tragedy on Detroit’s west side has resulted in serious legal consequences for a local couple after their three dogs fatally mauled Harold Phillips, a 35-year-old father of six. On January 29, 2024, Phillips was returning home from shopping for clothes for an upcoming job interview when he was viciously attacked by the dogs, which had escaped through an unsecured gate. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Phillips succumbed to his injuries four days later.
In court, Roy Goodman pleaded no contest to one count of dangerous animal causing death. He was sentenced to between 30 months and 15 years in prison.
