Actor Julien Arnold Dies During Performance of A Christmas Carol

Veteran Canadian stage actor Julien Arnold tragically passed away on November 24, 2024, during a performance of A Christmas Carol at Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre. The 60-year-old actor collapsed on stage in the middle of the production. Paramedics arrived promptly and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed​.

Arnold, a cherished figure in Edmonton’s theater community, had been performing multiple roles in the play, including Marley’s Ghost and Mr. Fezziwig. Known for his warmth, talent, and dedication to the arts, he had a career spanning decades, including his time as a founding member of the Free Will Players and frequent appearances in Citadel Theatre productions. His contributions extended beyond acting, as he also held a Master of Fine Arts in directing from the University of Alberta​.

In honor of Arnold’s legacy, the Citadel Theatre has dedicated the remaining performances of A Christmas Carol to his memory, while giving the cast and crew time to grieve. A fundraising campaign has been launched to support his wife, Sheiny Satanove, and has already garnered significant community support​.

Arnold’s passing leaves a void in the Edmonton theater scene, where his passion for the craft and ability to touch lives on and off stage will be deeply missed.
