Washington, D.C. – In a spirited address at the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) holiday reception on Sunday, President Joe Biden highlighted what he termed as “historic” legislative achievements during his tenure. With just over a month left in office before the transition to President-elect Donald Trump, Biden took the opportunity to reflect on the impact of his administration’s policies and to rally Democrats for future challenges.

Biden pointed to significant legislative milestones including the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the CHIPS and Science Act aimed at bolstering domestic semiconductor production, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which tackled inflation, climate change, and healthcare costs. “Because of all of you assembled here, we can be proud we’re leaving America in a better place today than we came here four years ago,” Biden remarked, focusing on the collective effort of his administration and party members.

The president also emphasized the global leadership of the United States under his watch, noting that international peers often expressed envy for America’s position. “There’s not a world leader you can name for me who hadn’t told me at these G7, G20 meetings, all these meetings I meet with them, they wouldn’t trade places with us in a heartbeat,” he stated, underscoring the global recognition of U.S. advancements in infrastructure and sustainability.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who spoke alongside Biden, echoed the sentiment, praising Biden’s leadership and integrity while also thanking the attendees for their support during her presidential campaign. Harris highlighted the importance of staying engaged despite recent electoral setbacks, urging the gathered Democrats to “keep the faith” and continue the fight for progressive causes.

The reception, attended by key Democratic donors and party members, served not only as a moment to celebrate past achievements but also as a call to action for Democrats to remain active and committed. Biden’s message was clear: the work continues, and the party must remain unified and proactive.

This event comes at a time when the Democratic Party is recalibrating after a challenging election cycle, with Biden and Harris using the platform to affirm the legacy they aim to leave and to motivate their base for future political engagements.
